2025 Summer Daydream – Myfanwynia’s Studio, County Leitrim. Painted in the quiet magic of my garden, this mural was a spontaneous offering to the sunshine. A dreamy girl and her flowery rabbit companion emerged from soft colours and playful lines, no plan, just presence. A little reminder that art doesn’t always need a reason, only a moment.
“Painted Together” 2025 TAP+ Mural at Abbey Primary School, Boyle This collaborative mural was created with 2nd class students over a ten-week Teacher Artist Partnership+ (TAP+) residency.
The centrepiece is a love-knot tree with a heart framing the castle in Lough Key Forest Park, a visual nod to the local legend of Úna Bhán, a tale of love, loss and longing rooted in Boyle’s rich folklore.
“Painted Together” 2025 TAP+ Mural at Abbey Primary School, Boyle This collaborative mural was created with 2nd class students over a ten-week Teacher Artist Partnership+ (TAP+) residency.
The mural’s themes were shaped through in-class storytelling, sketching and stencil workshops. Each student contributed to the final painting process was a collective effort, with students helping to prime, stencil, spray and paint the wall themselves.

'Where We Are Planted' 2015 - Me and the 5th class students from St. Clare’s Comprehensive School, Mannorhamilton, County Leitrim all standing proudly with their finished mural, a collaborative artwork created as part of the BLAST Arts in Education Residency.
The mural celebrates local identity, student creativity and a shared sense of place.
Over the course of the project, each student created their own detailed stencil inspired by elements of life in and around Manorhamilton.
From farming, sports to wildlife and school culture. These designs were brought to life with spray paint and layered into the final mural.
Many thanks to Hillary O’Gara, the art teacher, for hosting me in her classroom and supporting the project throughout.
The "Positivitree" 2025 This mural was created for Tusla’s Access House in Sligo, a space run by the Youth Liaison Team to support young people and their families.
I was invited to design and facilitate a mural workshop with five wonderful children, aged 8 to 12, who helped bring this piece to life. I arrived early in the day to begin painting the tree, laying in the trunk and higher branches while leaving the lower ones bare. When the children arrived that afternoon, they stencilled their own leaves onto the lower branches and added positive messages that we brainstormed together.
Thank you to the Tusla team for their support on the day and to the young people who made this mural special. I hope this tree will brighten the space for years to come!
2024 Forest Fest at Emo, County Laois. Painted live as part of the Port Art Collective installation at Forest Fest Emo, this candy-coloured mural celebrates the magic and playfulness of festival life. Created at The Forest’s Edge, the piece features a dreamy fairy with lilac-tinted wings, surrounded by toy-town houses, sweet animal companions and bubbles drifting through pastel skies.
2024, Temenos Flora and Fauna Cuboid – Convention Centre Dublin Created for the Temenos Community Forum, one of the world’s largest global banking technology conferences. This painted cube was part of a collaborative installation facilitated by Ivory Worldwide. Over two days, I transformed one of several sculptural forms into a vibrant artwork inspired by the theme of flora and fauna.
My design flowed across the cube’s surfaces in a mix of jungle-like foliage, native Irish plants, and symbolic wildlife, merging global biodiversity to express themes of connection and community.
Painted live during the event’s opening at The Convention Centre Dublin, the piece echoed ideas of interconnectedness, adaptation and organic intelligence - concepts that parallel the conference’s focus on AI, data, and cloud transformation.
Painted alongside fellow Minaw Collective artists Klo-wi and Zurdie, each of us contributed our own uniquely expressive cube to this shared, immersive installation.
Snooty Kitty 2024 – Grand Canal, Dublin Painted during a sunny Sunday session with the Minaw Collective, this mural features one of my whimsical girls with big eyes and flowing hair cradling a fluffy white cat.
2024 Brigid’s Day Mural – Portarlington, County Laois Painted live at the Brigid’s Day Festival in Portarlington, this mural was created as part of a community celebration of Imbolc and the Celtic traditions surrounding Brigid, goddess and saint of creativity, healing, and the returning light. The piece was painted alongside my fellow artists from the Minaw Collective and brought to life during a open-air street event full of storytelling, music and performance.
Many thanks to the Port Art Collective for hosting such a vibrant and welcoming event and to everyone who stopped by to connect and celebrate the season of renewal.
Night & Day 2023 - Sensory Garden Mural – Drumshanbo, County Leitrim. Inspired by an aerial view of nearby Lough Allen, this mural captures a surreal transition from day to night. A mysterious land spirit gazes into the lake as fairies in sunset and midnight tones hover above a bench, creating the illusion of wings for visitors. On the right, fairies and local wildlife gather under a blossoming Hawthorn tree, sharing music by firelight.
This mural was commissioned as part of the Drumshanbo Sensory Garden, a Drumshanbo Tidy Town community-led initiative designed to create a welcoming, multisensory outdoor space. It marks my first public mural in County Leitrim and I’m so grateful to have been part of it. The project was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Lough Allen Hotel and the efforts of the Leitrim Pool Association. Special thanks to Eileen O’Toole (@artistinireland) and Meryl (@comrade_brick_1312) for facilitating the mural and bringing such warmth (and coffee!) to the process. Huge thanks to everyone involved in bringing this magical garden and this artwork to life.
Bunnies 2024 - Block Party, Charlemont Square, Dublin. Painted live at the Block Party in Charlemont Square, this mural was created as part of a dynamic public art event hosted by Atelier Now and curated by Maser. The piece combines elements of pop surrealism and whimsy with one of my characters and a bundle of bunnies, completed in a single fun paint-filled day surrounded by music, creativity and community.
The event was supported by Kildare Village as part of their Colourama Festival - a celebration of colour, expression and Irish street art.
2024 ,Space to Create – Temple Bar, Dublin. Commissioned for the launch of “Space to Create,” a major new studio initiative by Dublin City Council, this mural was painted live in the new Visual Artists Ireland building in Temple Bar (old Filmbase building). The piece features a dreamlike mermaid with soft blue skin, her hair floating upward into a halo of stencilled seahorses, bubbles and underwater flora. Framed in ultramarine with decorative motifs, she represents the fluidity of imagination and the depth of creative practice.
Painted over just four hours during the summer solstice, the piece was completed with support from the Dublin Arts Office and stood beside fellow Minaw Collective artist Zurdie’s bold, vibrant graffiti mural. The following day, the piece formed part of the official launch event, where I added hand-painted details live while dignitaries, press, artists and the public gathered to celebrate the opening of 60 new artist studios in Dublin.

2023 Streets of Dublin – PHASE Gallery, Rathgar, Dublin. Painted live during the Saturday opening of Streets of Dublin at PHASE Gallery, this welcoming fairy mural greets visitors in the gallery entrance. Her flowing dress extends gracefully onto the floor, guiding guests into the exhibition space with a sense of whimsy and invitation.
Curated by Kathrina Rupit, the show featured work by 26 artists exploring the intersection of street art and studio practice. I was honoured to contribute both this mural and two new paintings to such a vibrant and diverse group show.
2023 Climate Justice Mural – Aghamore, County Mayo Commissioned by the Aghamore Foróige youth group as part of the European Youth Climate Justice Fund, this mural is my largest to date. Designed in collaboration with local young people, the piece promotes Agroforestry, a sustainable farming system where trees and cattle thrive together.
Two blossoming hawthorn groves frame a rich landscape filled with trees, wildlife, and grazing cattle. In the foreground, a boy and girl plant saplings amid wildflowers, beneath the message: “Let’s grow a sustainable future together.”
It was an honour to work with such passionate and thoughtful youth leaders, whose vision for climate justice truly inspired the final design. Special thanks to Fiona, Malachy, Mary, and Moyra for their support and warm welcome throughout the project.
2023 Hit the North – Belfast Painted as part of Hit the North, Northern Ireland’s premier International street art festival, this mural was created during a vibrant weekend of live painting, community energy and artistic exchange. Huge thanks to Seedhead Arts for the invitation and support, so amazing to be part of this incredible event!
Mothers Day Mural 2023. Painted as part of a Minaw Collective jam at Grand Canal Dock for Mother’s Day 2023. This piece, created entirely in spray paint, celebrates the love and kindness of mothers and marks my first mural without any brushwork.
2023 Fairy River Mural – The Shambles, Boyle This long 10 x 2.5 metre mural was painted beside the original location of the New Art Gallery Boyle, in the Shambles area beside the Lovage Café and Boyle River. Once a damp, grey wall viewed from the gallery windows, the space was transformed into a vibrant celebration of Boyle’s natural and imaginative spirit. The composition features Frybrook House, local wildlife and river swans, wildflowers, and a fairy character, all woven into a jazzy, surreal landscape bursting with colour and movement. The result is a dreamlike mural that brings magic and energy to this riverside corner of town.
2022 Samhain Paint Jam – Belfast Painted as part of the Samhain Paint Jam on Rosemary Street, Belfast, this mural explores the theme "The Veil Wears Thin"—a reflection on transformation, inner power and the liminal magic of Samhain.
My piece is inspired by the Phooka and other shapeshifting land spirits that appear as autumn turns to winter, when the land softens, mushrooms rise and hedgeberries begin to rot on the branch. These fairies walk between worlds, embodying both decay, rebirth and marking the shift into the darker part of the year. Huge thanks to Artcetera Studio 43 for the wall, and to Outlines Art Supplies for the paint. It was a joy to paint alongside an incredible lineup of women artists and to bring this seasonal vision to life in the heart of the city.
2022 Her Heart Matters – Cork City Created in collaboration with Arú Roncada for the Irish Heart Foundation’s #HerHeartMatters campaign, this mural appeared in the Marks & Spencer window on Patrick Street, Cork, to mark World Heart Day on September 29th.
The design features a radiant, Art Nouveau-inspired character holding her heart close. Above her head, glowing circles depict a mindscape of self-care practices, movement, rest, hydration, nourishing food, offering a gentle reminder that “Self care isn’t selfish, because her heart matters.”
This campaign raises awareness of the fact that 1 in 4 women die from heart disease and stroke, and encourages daily self-care as a powerful act of prevention—especially for women aged 40–50, who are most at risk.

2022 Will-o’-the-Wisp – Forest Fest, Emo, Co. Laois. Painted live at the inaugural Forest Fest in Emo, this mural was inspired by the ethereal glow of will-o’-the-wisps and the folklore that surrounds them. The piece captures a sense of mystery, movement and woodland magic, brought to life with forest tones and flowing forms.
2022 The Love of Gaia – Love Lane, Temple Bar, Dublin Painted as part of Dublin City Council’s Love the Lanes initiative, The Love of Gaia is a collaborative mural created with Minaw Collective artists Arú Roncada and Kathrina Rupit (Kinmx) in Crampton Court, also known as Love Lane.
This large-scale, surreal composition blends each artist’s visual language into a shared dreamscape. Sacred geometry flows through Arú’s elemental patterns, while Kathrina’s fiery portrait channels divine feminine energy and the collective unconscious. My contribution features whimsical heart-leaved trees and a small paper-boat dreamer, contemplating a harmonious world where nature flourishes in love.
Framed by the tiled love quotes installation by Anna Doran, the lane is a vibrant destination in Dublin’s Temple Bar - well worth a visit.

Street Art And Mural Work
I have always painted on walls, when I was twelve I painted my murals on my bedroom walls, at first I painted picture book styles and landscapes with animals. Later I was big into Manga and when I was fourteen I repainted my walls with larger than life anime, characters like Shadow Lady and Lum in the Sun, painting murals is something I have always dabbled in. While I was in college I spent my summers painting huge backdrops as décor for local music festivals, I loved the scale, many of these pieces were in florescent colours that reacted to ultra violet light, which continues to be a fascination to me.
In 2012 my friend Kathrina Rupit (Kin MX) a fellow artist asked me to paint at her event ‘Graff House’ at ‘The Chocolate Factory’ in Kings Inns Street, Dublin. I had never painted live before, it was an new experience to be part of a painting event like this. It was an inside event and because of this all of the street artists/graffiti artists were using paintbrushes, a few had come earlier in the day to get some spray-paint down, but all of the live part of the event was with paintbrushes and that suited me fine! As I had never used spray-paint confidently before. I met many wonderful artists who took part and I felt a real sense of community among them, it was so much fun to be part of it! As someone who can easily spend hours pouring over a single artwork, to have a set amount of time, say, four hours to finish a piece, a big piece! This was something different, I found myself loosening up, setting the perfectionist in me aside, I felt I tapped back into that little girl painting her bedroom wall, it was liberating after my seven years of formal art education. I was eager to take part in more painting events like this, but being a mother base in rural Leitrim, my ability to engage in the Dublin street art scene was somewhat limited, despite this I was always delighted to be invited along and would rearrange the world to get to go.
In 2013 when Kathrina asked me if I would like to be part of a new all female street art collective that she was getting together, I was delighted to be asked! And in 2014 The MINAW Collective was born, back then there was nine of us:
FOX aka Sinead Bailey Kelly,
Loki aka Laura Burke,
MyfanwyNia (thats me) ,
Novice aka Jess Tobin, Made aka Emily Nayhree Dawson,
Lolz aka Laura Fitzpatrick,
Kin MX aka Kathrina Rupit, Friz aka Marian Noone and Bubu aka Aruanã Roncada.
MINAW is derived from the Irish word for woman ‘mná’ the name has a contemporary spin spelling it phonetically making ‘Minaw’ more pronounceable.
Photo: The MINAW Collective 2014, Female Street Art Exhibition, White Lady Art, Temple Bar Dublin.
We celebrated and announced it to the world with a group exhibition in April 2014 at the then ‘White Lady Art Gallery’ on Welligton Quay in Temple Bar and a live paint at The Bernard Shaw. During this time I was four months pregnant with my second son Gwyddion, this was my first big spray-paint piece and the wall was huge and I know I felt a little intimidated at first, comparing myself these talented ladies who had more experience with the medium, somehow I managed to shake that off and trust myself, I just went for it. I soon discovered that this was a safe space, that this was a group of supportive sisters. I learned a bunch from watching the others and got a lot of pointers, the brilliant Friz taught me about a process called cut-backs, putting a base colour down, doing the linework, then going back in to ‘cut-back’ into the linework with the base colour, tidying it up.
I felt very honoured just to be included, that these talented ladies accepted me to be part of their crew, the sense of sisterhood was so special to me and the memories of these times is something I know I will always treasure.
I have since taken part in other live paint jams and even some street art pieces, I’m not sure if that makes me a ‘Street Artist’ in the true sense, but I am very proud to have had my art up on the walls in the streets of Dublin. I have continued to do bits of mural work on my own between opportunities to collaborate with my MINAW sisters. I have never been as active in the scene as many of the other members but I am continuously delighted whenever I get the opportunity to participate in a project or event with them.
Since its inception the MINAW Collective has been a thriving organic entity and has taken on new members including the outstanding talents of ‘Signs Of Power’ aka Vanessa Power, ESTR aka Emma Blake and Holly Periera.
