Candlelit Whiskers | Illustrated Wooden Bookmark

€6.00

A little guardian of light for your literary adventures.

This decorative wooden bookmark features my original illustration Candlelit Whiskers, first drawn in pencil and carefully coloured digitally. The artwork is printed directly onto natural wood, preserving a lovely soft, matte finish.

The illustration depicts a mysterious little feline dressed in Victorian finery, carrying her candle through the shadows. Perhaps she is searching for a lost wanderer, or perhaps she is simply lighting the way into another story.

Inspired by the wonderfully eccentric world of Victorian Catland and an ’80s childhood filled with Sylvanian Families and Victorian revival, this original MyfanwyNia illustration brings a touch of old-world whimsy to your favourite books.

Each bookmark is carefully laser-cut and finished in small batches at my off-grid studio in County Leitrim, Ireland. The visible wood grain lends each piece its own subtle character, while a decorative tassel helps you find your place.

A charming little companion for your current read, or a thoughtful gift for someone who loves books, cats and a touch of magic.

✦ Artist’s Note

“These little wooden bookmarks are part of my growing collection of objects made here in my off-grid studio, powered by wind and sun. I love finding new ways to bring my illustrations into everyday life, transforming something as simple as a bookmark into a small piece of art.

Candlelit Whiskers feels particularly suited to a bookmark, with her gentle candlelight and old-world charm. Inspired by the Victorian Catland illustrations that I adore, she belongs to that wonderfully eccentric tradition of cats dressed as storytellers, entertainers, household companions and little magical beings.

I print the illustrations directly onto natural wood before laser-cutting and finishing each bookmark here in the studio. I particularly love the soft, matte quality of the print and the way the wood grain becomes part of the artwork. Working in small batches means I can give each piece my personal attention, from printing and cutting to adding the finishing touches.

I hope these little bookmarks become treasured companions on your reading adventures, keeping your place while you wander through other worlds.”
