Forest Fairy Tartan Print Joggers

from €55.30

Step into soft woodland whimsy with these cosy tartan print joggers, featuring my original Turkey Tail Mushroom Fairy illustration. She’s a shy little forest spirit, part fae, part fungus, peeking out from the lower leg, a little companion on your walk through the woods.

The tartan print pattern has a warm, earthy feel that pairs beautifully with her world: mossy paths, fallen logs and damp autumn light. Inside, the brushed fleece is plush and warm; outside, the colours are vibrant and smooth, making the joggers practical enough for active outdoor and creative days.

Wear them under layered Cottagecore or Mori-Kei inspired outfits, with oversized knits, or simply as your comfiest lounge trousers. They’re thick, flattering and full of forest fairy charm. Perfect for anyone who feels most at home beneath the trees.

Turkey Tail Mushroom Fairy

Deep in the quiet understory of the forest, where fallen branches soften into soil and the world smells of humus and rain, lives a shy and ancient spirit born from the heart of the forest itself. She is not a fairy in the winged, glittering sense, she is something older, steadier, sympathetic in the ways of moss and mycelium. She is the personification of the turkey tail mushroom, a fae embodiment of resilience, healing and the quiet work of renewal.

She moves softly among fallen wood, her layered skirts rippling like the concentric rings of the fungi that formed her. Each fold of her gown echoes the curved, feathered edges of turkey tails: russet, ochre, ash, bark-brown. When she steps, the patterns seem to shift like spores catching the light.

She is a communal being not solitary, despite her shyness, for the mushroom spirits do nothing alone. Their magic is networked, shared, humming beneath the soil in unseen threads. She carries this essence within her: connection, communication and quiet strength.

Her magic is a heightened form of what turkey tail mushrooms are known for, restoration, deep immunity, spiritual cleansing and transforming what has fallen into new life.

When she touches a decaying log, softness spreads; what was breaking down begins to glow faintly with potential. When she breathes, the air feels a little clearer, as if old heaviness is lifting. She does not cast showy spells, she works slowly, steadily, like the forest itself.

She hides when footsteps approach not out of fear, but because her presence is meant to be felt rather than seen. A shift of leaves, a brief warmth in the air, a pattern on bark that you swear wasn’t there before.
Those who do see her describe her eyes as autumn-coloured and ancient and her voice as the hush of a thousand tiny spores drifting on a breeze.

She is the spirit of resilience, of recovery, of the secret work happening out of sight.
The quiet guardian of the forest’s second life.

Artist’s Note

“I designed these joggers during a time when I had fallen deeply in love with Mori-Kei - a Japanese fashion aesthetic where mori means ‘forest’ and kei means ‘style’. The look emerged in the mid-2000s through a girl known as Coco, who released a small look-book defining the style. I was lucky enough to find a copy from a seller on Depop. Even though it’s entirely in Japanese, it was magical to look through - soft layers, natural tones and vintage charm. It felt like a style that finally made sense to me.

Living rurally here in Ireland, surrounded by forests, rain, moss and mountains, I felt an immediate connection. I’ve always loved Japanese street fashion - especially Gothic and Lolita - but as much as I try, it’s not always practical for everyday life. Mori Kei felt different. It harmonised beautifully with how I was already living: close to nature, on misty roads, wrapped in woollen layers, enjoying quiet, simple pleasures. In many ways, it overlaps with Cottagecore - celebrating slowness, unplugging from noise, embracing old-fashioned motifs and finding magic in nature.

My Turkey Tail Mushroom Fairy grew out of that same sensibility. She is a shy forest spirit hiding among fallen logs, her dress shaped like the layered rings of the mushroom itself. Turkey-tail fungi are communal, resilient and healing and imagined her carrying that same quiet power. She is the personification of a woodland remedy, a soft-spoken fae born of bark, roots and damp autumn air.

These slim-fit joggers were created with that lifestyle in mind. They’re thick, cosy and practical, with brushed fleece inside, making them perfect for layering under skirts, woollen dresses or cardigans - very Mori Kei, very cottage-in-the-woods. The tartan print has an earthy, woodland warmth that pairs beautifully with her mushroom magic.

I wanted to create something wearable, warm and whimsical for anyone who shares a love of forest fashion, mushrooms and folklore. I hope these joggers bring a touch of woodland enchantment into your wardrobe, too.”
