Nazar Canvas Print

from €58.50

Nazar was inspired by the ancient symbol of the evil eye, a protective motif found across cultures for thousands of years, from the Mediterranean and Middle East to parts of Europe, North Africa and beyond. The name Nazar comes from Arabic and Turkish traditions, meaning “sight” or “gaze,” and refers to the watchful eye itself,  both the force that observes and the charm that protects. Traditionally used as a ward against envy, ill-will, or unintentional harm, the evil eye is not a symbol of fear, but of awareness and care. Passed through generations as glass charms, amulets, and talismans, it carries the gentle intention of watching over, guarding quietly and keeping what is precious safe.

My character is a collector.
From distant places and quiet moments, she has gathered them one by one, small glass eyes, charms softened by time, tokens passed hand to hand. Some hang gently from shelves, others rest where the light can find them. Each carries a story, a memory, a promise of watching and protection.

In this room, she is the keeper.

She lifts one charm to her gaze and meets it calmly, as if greeting an old friend. Around her, the eyes float and shimmer, no longer objects but companions,  guardians that blur the line between being seen and being held. The space feels alive with attention, yet nothing here is sharp or unkind.

The twin cats sit beside her, light and dark, familiar and steady. They understand the quiet rules of the room, how protection does not need force, only presence.

Nazar is a story of sanctuary. Of choosing what stays close, and what is gently kept at a distance. It speaks to the comfort of surrounding yourself with symbols that watch over you and the quiet strength that comes from knowing you are protected, not by fear, but by care, intention and stillness.
