Live Painting at the Convention Centre Dublin: Temenos Community Forum
My piece’s theme was flora and fauna.
Back from Dublin after a two-day adventure painting a colossal cube at the Convention Centre!
This live painting project was created as part of the Temenos Community Forum, a major global banking technology conference exploring innovation across SaaS, cloud, AI and digital finance. Working in collaboration with Ivory Worldwide, we created a series of large-scale installation pieces positioned in the main entrance foyer, a busy, high-energy space I’d only ever experienced before as part of the crowd.
It was a completely different feeling to be there as part of the crew this time, working behind the scenes, settling into the rhythm of the space, even getting to use the staff canteen throughout the day. There was something really enjoyable about stepping into that environment from a new perspective.
I was there alongside fellow Minaw Collective artists Klo-wi and Zurdie. Each of us worked on a different cuboid structure, Klo-wi painted a form with a circular cut-out, Zurdie created a large archway and I worked on a cuboid with an angled square opening. Klo-wi’s piece explored themes of connection and people, while Zurdie’s focused on global languages. Together, the works echoed elements of the Temenos logo, transforming these bold geometric forms into something more organic and expressive.
My concept focused on flora and fauna bursting out from the cut-out centre, as if nature was pushing through the structure. Using water-based spray paint, I built up layers of greens, leaves and small details that wrapped around the edges and spilled into the interior, creating a sense of movement and growth.
The structure itself was huge, at one point I actually had to climb inside it to reach parts of the interior, which really gives a sense of the scale we were working at.
(Here’s me in the primed shape before getting started :)
We began painting the day before to establish the groundwork, then returned to complete the pieces live as guests arrived that evening. On the night, we became part of the spectacle, painting in real time as the space filled, alongside a brilliant surprise flash mob that broke into a choreographed dance, catching everyone off guard and adding to the energy of the event. The cubes were professionally lit as part of the final setup and they looked incredible, the colours really came alive in the space.
This live painting project formed part of the wider evening experience for the Temenos Community Forum, a concept built around “Temenos City,” transforming the Convention Centre into a kind of night-time street festival.
The space came alive with light, sound and movement, with performances unfolding across the building from dance and theatre to music, circus and live art. Rather than a single stage, guests were free to roam and explore, discovering different moments as the night unfolded.
Our painted installations became part of that landscape, a large-scale visual presence at the entrance, sitting alongside performers, music and moving audiences. On the night, we weren’t just creating artwork, we were part of the overall spectacle, painting live as the event came to life around us.
The entire production was supported by the events team at Ivory Worldwide, including a lovely curator and event manager Ami Jade Cadillac who also runs a art space in the UK ‘The Flaming Lady of Hay' Arthouse’, which added another layer of connection to the whole experience.
It was such a unique project blending art, performance and live interaction in a space I’d only ever known from the outside.
Huge thanks to Ivory Worldwide for bringing it all together ✨💜
And of course, if anyone needs a mural (or a random cuboid spruced up), you know who to call… Minaw Collective 😉❤️
